Britt Dies After Long Illness. Jerry M. Britt, retired painter, of 1536 Third Street, died in a local hospital at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, after a lingering illness. Mr. Britt was born in Crawford County, Dec., 26, 1858, the son of Henry N. Britt and Mrs. Elizabeth Miller-Britt and had made his home in Macon most of the time since 1889. He was in Fitzgerald, Ga., for a while. He was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons. Robert Britt, Macon; Charles C. Britt, Atlanta; two grandchildren, Alice Jo Britt and Robbie Vesta Britt of Macon; four sisters, Mrs. Kitty Molton, Macon; Mrs. Mattie Wright and Mrs. O. C. Prince, Fort Valley, Mrs. Mary Revell, Fitzgerald; a number of nieces and nephews. Britt, retired painter of 1536 Third Street, who died in a local hospital Tuesday evening, were held in the chapel of Hart's mortuary at 11 a.m. Thursday. Elder Yancey Hicks officiated and burial was in Cedar Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Britt made his home in Macon most the time since 1889, and was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. Britt, Mrs. Velary Well Known Macon Lady Passes Away After a Two-weeks Illness Mrs. Velary Britt, wife of Mr. J. M. Britt, passed away yesterday at noon at her home in South Macon, after an illness of two weeks with fever. Mrs. Britt was 44 years of age and is survived by her husband, two brothers and three sisters, who are Mrs. (Mr.) E. Wilder, Mr. Oscar Wilder, Mrs. Mattie Streyer, Mrs. Beorge (George) Hobbs and Mrs. H. A. Bankston. Her mother, Mrs. H. Wilder, also survives her. The funeral will take place this afternoot at 3 o'clock at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, of which she was a devout member. The funeral services will be conducted by Elder W. W. Childs. The pallbearers will be: Messrs. W. A. Davis, R. W. Jones, A. B. Moore, J. W. Mathews, Frank Durden, Will Hargroves. Interment, Cedar Ridge Cemetery.
