Event Notes Note (1) The Macon Telegraph; Tuesday, March 4, 2008; Page B-5: -HENDERSON - Jimmy Hugh Thames, 73, passed over into eternity on Monday, March 3, 2008, with family members at his bedside. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Henderson Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Anderson and Reverend Bob Gray officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Henderson Baptist Church Land Fund, 2813 Highway 41 S, Elko, GA 31025. -Mr. Thames was born in Ft. Valley in 1935, and served in the U. S. Navy. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in Long Beach, California for 4 years, and received a Good Conduct Medal for his service. Mr. Thames was a proud member of Henderson Baptist Church. Working alongside his brothers as a carpenter/farmer for over 45 years is what he knew and did best. -He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Marilyn Jan; his daughter, Sherry Crenshaw (David) of Gray; grandson, Bruce Gibson (Amanda) of Perry; grandchildren, Jessica May and Erin Crenshaw; great-grandchildren, Austin "Squirt" May and Ryleigh May; brothers, Bill Thames (Doris), Ted Thames (Frances), Douglas Thames (Linda), all of Henderson; and sisters, Faye Sullivan (Harold), Beverly Lunsford (Lloyd), both of Macon, Brenda Shugart (Jack) and Peggy Beavers, both of Perry. Many nieces, nephews, and friends will also miss this special man. -Our loving husband and father was predeceased by his mother and father, Morris and Eva Thames, and two sisters, Jewell Roquemore and Nadine Foster. -Please sign the online register at watsonhunt.com.
