Event Notes Note (1) Funeral services for Helen Reynolds, age 89, were conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, in Brooks Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Hancock, pastor of First Baptist Church, Canyon, Texas, under Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. At the time of death, both sons, two sisters, Ruth Chamberlain of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Vallie Shotwell of Canyon, and a brother, Leonard Britt of Austin, Texas. She had five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Soloist at funeral was Gayle Bowen and organist was his wife, Janie Bowen. She had diabetes and developed a sore on a leg. This had to be amputated, then later the other leg had to be amputated. She lived her last five years in a nursing home. She was mentally alert until the end. "It was just we had to have help caring for her, so the nursing home was the answer." She was a china painter, a good cook, loved playing bridge.
