Notes for: Mathew Long
Extracted from "Long" family research papers prepared by Mrs. Oscar L. Long, Macon, Georgia.
Mathew Long of Granville County, South Carolina, Ninety-Sixth District, left
his will dated 25 April 1775. His wife Elizabeth, received one third of the
plantation where he was living; son, John, received land on Rose's Creek above
Rocky River. Son Henry, underage was to receive all the plantation where "I
now live" upon the death of his mother. Also mentioned were sons George and
James. Daughter, Margaret, was to receive land at Long Cane, called Cox's
plantation. Also mentioned were daughters Elizabeth Petigru, Mary McComb;
Jennet, Esther, Agnes, Catherine and Ann, the last five being under age. Also
mentioned was John Welch. Executors: Wife, Samuel Young of Rowan County,
North Carolina. Witnesses: Thomas Cannon, Samuel Crawford, and Agnis
