Notes for: Isaiah D. Britt

Isaiah is incorrectly identified in "Roster of the Confederate Soldiers of Georgia, 1861-1865," Volume 5. In that volume, he is listed as "J. D." Isaiah's wife Martha A. E. Britt applied for payment of any monies due him, on the 23rd of August 1864, based upon his service and death. On her application it specifically states that Isaiah died at Marietta, Georgia on or about the 21st of June, 1864. The information listed in the source above for J. D. Britt matches the known information for Isaiah. There was J. D. Britt in the same unit as Isaiah, however his records have him specifically listed as James D. Britt. Isaiah's military record is not complete; however the narrative, of "J. D." being wounded in the hand, and dieing in Atlanta' matches the information included in the request of Martha Bently Britt. Her application was witnessed by Henry N. Britt.
