Notes for: Kinchen L. Britt Sr.

Kinchen L. Britt deeded (in-trust), land to Henry N. Britt in 1858, to be used for Kinchen's mother Ava Hortman. See warranty deed Kinchen L. Britt (in trust) to Henry N. Britt, Crawford County, Georgia; Deed Book "G", page 339. This deed is the first reference that confirms Ava Britt-Hortman as Kinchen L. Britt's mother. A later deed indicates that K. L. Britt of Shelby County, Texas; sold his land in Georgia. The description of the land sold, matches what was purchased by Kinchen L. in 1854. A search of Shelby County, Texas, indicated that a Kenneth Leonard Britt, Elizabeth Mathis Britt, and J. W. Britt are buried at Bradley Springs Cemetery in Shelby County. The cemetery marker dates of birth, match those of our Kinchen L., Elizabeth Mathews, and John W. Britt. Because of this, the burial information has been applied to this family. It is indicated on the 1880 census, that Kinchen ( age 55), and his parents were born in Georgia. From that census, he would have been born about 1825; 1870 census (age 43) born about 1827; 1860 census (age 34) born about 1826; 1850 census (age 22) born about 1828.
